Commissioned by the Royal Commission for AlUla (RCU) to document architecture and infrastructure across one of Saudi Arabia's most significant heritage and cultural development zones. Aerial and ground-level photography of AlUla Airport and surrounding infrastructure, with full drone permit management in a region that operates under strict airspace controls.
AlUla is unlike any other commission environment in the region. The landscape itself is the dominant element — ancient sandstone formations, Nabataean heritage sites, and a built environment designed to sit within rather than impose upon the natural terrain. Photography here is not straightforwardly urban. It requires an understanding of how architecture relates to landscape at a scale that most building photography never encounters.
Airspace restrictions in AlUla are among the most complex in the Kingdom. Drone operations require GACA permits coordinated with RCU and, in some areas, additional security clearances. This process is managed in full as part of any commission here.
The AlUla Airport commission was awarded by the Royal Commission for AlUla as part of a wider documentation programme for the region's infrastructure development. The project required both aerial and ground-level photography across the airport complex and approach infrastructure, delivered to RCU's publication and communications standards.
AlUla represents a growing part of the KSA commission portfolio as the region's cultural and tourism infrastructure continues to develop under the Vision 2030 framework. Commissions here are typically awarded through RCU or its appointed project management firms.
